My work is a celebration of renewal and repurpose.  I use recycled objects in order to give new life and meaning to things discarded and no longer useful in their current form. Just as I found myself a parent of adult children and feeling my usefulness exhausted, I take materials such as plastic shopping bags and crochet them into new forms. Soda bottles and cans become flowers and large circular crocheted forms representative of the barriers I had placed between myself and the world.

As an artist, it is important for me to recycle as many materials as possible, thereby reducing the destruction of the environment.   Instead of just protecting my children as I did as a younger parent, I can now help protect the environment as well.  Using abandoned and discarded materials, I breathe into them new life and purpose. Just as I have found a new way to be beautiful and useful again my art will grace the walls of a gallery instead of being useless items in a landfill.
